Newborn Photography – What if baby won’t sleep…
This is one of the common worries my parents express when booking a newborn photography session.
Before I answer that let me explain a little of why I prefer photographing babies between 10 and 14 days new. Firstly (believe it or not) they are starting to settle into their new family, feeding is fairly well established and when sleeping they don’t mind being handled. Add into all that they still like being curled up cosy perfect for posing!!
But as the saying goes there is always the exception that proves the rule!
So what do I do if baby won’t sleep – rather than trying to explain I thought I would let Starr demonstrate just a selection of the beautiful images that can be created even with awake babies.
This first selection of images is fantastic for babies who don’t easily give up their wind and I often find that by the time I have finished with these poses they are off into the land of nod, but for those that are real sleep fighters here are some other images we can create.
The addition of a hat or a beautiful little hair band can really change up an image!
Props are another way of bringing in more variety!
A couple of my gorgeous babies were also kind enough to demonstrate what beautiful images you can create!
No two babies are the same and over the past 6 years I have learned many tips and tricks to help get them off to sleep but when all else fails I use a variety of wraps, hats, backdrops and props to create a series of beautiful images that you will cherish for many, many years to come!
