Celebrating…
Today sees the 7th Anniversary of Fiona McKean Photography and I have to say it has been an utterly amazing week!
Darren and I spent Tuesday at the annual Master Photographers Association Scottish Region awards day, it is a full day of learning, socialising and most importantly celebrating the incredible talent that we have in the photography industry in Scotland. I started entering and attending the awards 4 years ago and at that time I was, and I have to say I still am, amazed and inspired by the quality of images that are entered.
This year I submitted 11 entries in total and I was delighted to find out in February that 6 of my images had made it through to the final round of judging. Darren submitted 2 entries this year and both of which made it through to the print judging stage. I must admit it has been a long 4 weeks waiting to hear the results!
So Tuesday finally arrived and we headed off to the Grange Manor Hotel in Grangemouth to join the other entrants who were eagerly awaiting the results. I got a chance to have a look around all the images entered and once again I wasn’t disappointed. The calibre of entry is so high it really was an honour to see my images alongside.
Now down to the important bit.. but just before I tell you exactly what we achieved I would just like to say a huge thank you to all my clients who allowed me to enter their beautiful children, families and pets into the awards your continued support is very much appreciated.

If this wasn’t good enough to cap it all off on the way home on Wednesday I learned that my application to become a professional member of BANPAS (one of the professional bodies for newborn photography that I am a member of) had been successful. The application involved submitting a body of images to BANPAS which were then judged by some of the industries leading newborn and portrait photographers over 4 categories, focus, exposure, lighting and posing. Here are the images that were judged.
This really has been an amazing week for both Darren and me. We are so grateful to our clients, friends and family for your love and support.
